I don’t need to tell you about the opioid crisis. I probably don’t even need to point out that NARCAN has become the go-to antidote in hopes of saving lives. If you’re reading ahead by now you’re thinking I’m the most insensitive person on Earth to take such a light-hearted approach to a life-or-death moment. That was the ask.

The situation was that NARCAN officially went over-the-counter in 2023. Readily available to anyone who would be willing to act, we needed to chip away at the “but I don’t do drugs” stigma. The point is, you don’t have to do drugs to find yourself amongst someone who does. Like condoms were to the AIDS crisis in the ‘80s, carrying NARCAN in an abundance of caution, is nothing to hide.
